Carnarvon's well known Street Stock driver and current club Vice President, Blake Jackson, has stepped up and will join fellow club member and decorated driver, Peter Lyall in the Super Sedan ranks.
Through one thing and another, Jackson has finally got his immaculate #41, orange and silver RX8 Mazda on track and is 'Ready to Rumble' with the big boys!!
Interestingly, both men have armed themselves in the same type of artillery for battle, the flame throwing Madza's, with their not so secret weapon being their Turbo, which has been known to cause quite a stir in what is predominantly a V8 arena.
Not surprisingly though that they have both chosen Rotary Power, as Lyall has always run a Mazda in the Supers, after working for Graeme "Kiwi" Jackson (Blake's father) as an apprentice in the days of Carnarvon Motor Forum (a Mazda Dealership), where the love and understanding has grown for the brand.
Naturally young Jackson has followed suit and has built his 'baby' after purchasing the chassis from WA1 Marc Giancola and transforming it into what it is today. Sporting the same striking paint job, Blake's car is now the big sister to his older brother, Travis's #17 Modified Mazda RX7.
Both the Lyall and Jackson teams had travelled to Perth last weekend to 'Wow the Crowd' in the start of the 2007/08 Kwinana Motorplex season. Unfortunately the meeting was cancelled due to the rainfall in Perth that day. That meeting may be rescheduled for sometime in February 2008.
So, both teams are ready to hit the road again this weekend and have a run at Fast Friday at Kwinana and then head off to Collie for the scheduled fourth round of the Super Sedan Series, having already raced in Port Hedland and Newman.
The series with again take them all over the state racing and will be thundering in to Carnarvon on the 12th of April 2008.
They will again be a huge following of Carnarvon members and fan's cheering on our boy's at the Super Sedan State Title at Kwinana Motorplex on November 24th. Our best wishes to both drivers!!
