Hello everyone,

Welcome to the Carnarvon Speedway clubs 2007/2008 season, I would like to congratulate all new and existing Committee members and all the volunteers' required to fill the many jobs required to run a speedway meeting.

As the new president I am looking forward to our up and coming race season which we hope to start in January 2008 (Attached is a potential calendar) and we will be setting the race dates at the next committee meeting (15/08/07) so if anybody has any preference of dates to race or not race please let your committee members know and we will try to work everything in.

For the off season there is several big projects we need to get done and will be calling on as many volunteers' as possible to assist (many hands make jobs a lot easier).

  • Purchase a new Grader (I have this one in hand at the moment)
  • Obtain a reliable water supply (Linking up to the irrigation supply and piping to the track)
  • Securing the track lights (The frames are rusting and some cables need replacing)
  • Raising the track wall (Approximately 500 mm)
  • Increasing the camber of the track
  • Many other smaller projects and general tidying up prior to racing

I realise there are some away race meetings over this period and with Broome hosting the street stock state title next year I'm sure many drivers will be travelling in the later half of 2007 but these improvements need to be done before we start racing.

We had a very successful 06/07 season and hope to continue this in 07/08 with the Junior state title, Supers round and North West championships plus perpetuals, points and maybe a celebrity challenge.

If you know of any potential racers or people wanting to get involved in speedway please encourage them to join our club and if you haven't already done so give Tara your Email address and ask anyone who is joining to give Tara a contact Email or postal address as we would like to keep everyone up to date in what is happening.

On a final note if you have any ideas on how to improve the club (Race meetings, Social events, anything) feel free to contact myself or any of the committee members.

PS - Congratulations to the team that came second in the festival float parade (some more speedway cars would have been better?)
