It was a hot and sticky at the Carnarvon Speedway track last Saturday night and the weather was too.
At least the threatening rain by passed us so that racing wasn't interrupted.
The club is pleased to announce that they will be donating 10% of the gate takings from the last meeting to the Victorian Bush Fire Appeal from last Saturday's meet.
Unfortunately, car were still down on expected numbers, but promises to be near on a full line up on the 7th of March for the Family Fun Night.
Junior Trent Lyall was the outright toast of the track, winning four from four and showing that he has got what it takes.
Another deservable glass raising effort went to Robert "Hoover" Lathwell. On just his second race meeting, won his first race in the Street Stocks. Starting on pole, he lead the field of seven from go to whoa in reverse circut.
Current WA#1, Daniel Pidala was back on his regular pace with 3 wins. Also up there was Wade Mason with three seconds and a third.
Kim Jolly in the only Modified for the night, had a run in all different divisions. He will be joined next fortnight by brothers Zane & Dylan Mogg.
Stephen Lyall had a few hair raising moments in his Sprint Car racing against the Jackson brothers in the Supers events. Lyall will be back in his regular field with the welcome inclusion of Andrew Pedlar from Exmouth and local Jim Andreoli will have his engine back together.
Congratulations must go to our Super Boys, who competed in the WA Super Sedan Summer Series round in Geraldton two weekends ago. #17 Travis Jackson won the exciting feature race with #14 Peter Lyall third and #41 Blake Jackson sixth from 13 starters.
The club is very proud of the amount of talent that is within our drivers and is excited to be progressing with the up to date faclilities and technology.
Recently we have purchased a transponder system inexcess of $20,000. This was made possible sooner by a $15,000 grant from GDC. This will certainly increase our chances of accquiring more Blue Ribbon Events, bringing more tourist to our great town.
Besides the Kwinana Motorplex, we will be the first WA club to have such advanced equipment inplace. For more information about transponder systems, go to www.mylaps.com.au and click on "car racing" tab, then look under Perth Motorplex for details of each and every race. Impressive!!
Catch Ya on Clay at Carnaron Speedway.
