Daniel Pidala has taken out the Beaurepaires Street Stock Ashes Perpetual title for the third consecutive season at the Carnarvon Speedway track last Saturday night.
The current WA#1 got his immaculate Holden Commodore out in front and stayed there to cross the line first after 30 gruelling laps, reverse circuit from 12 other starters.
This included exCarnarvonite, Romeo Andreoli, who now races at Ellenbrook. Andreoli finished the feature in a creditable fourth spot.
The other visitor was Winchy from Geraldton, in the ex Pidala car, one of only 3 Holden's to do battle.
Ford drivers Leo Brooks and Kane Munro drove hard all night and was rewarded with 2nd and 3rd respectively overall.
Brooks started outside pole from Pidala in the final, after he had a first and 2 thirds in his 10 lap heats.
Only the top four placegetters managed to stay on the same lap as the winner, with the rest of the field either lapped or retired from the race.
The support races for the night were great racing as well.
The 3 local Juniors each had a win, with Damon Lyall finding some more grunt, coming away with two wins.
The two Sprintcars put in some hard driving and providing some very quick times of 14 second laps, after the track had dried out later in the night. Still absent from the division, Jim Andreoli, should be back on track soon after extensively bidding for parts on E-bay.
The Modifieds had a welcome influx of 2 Karratha drivers, that of Linsey McAuley and Max Peaker. Both of which took home a win each. Locals' Zane Mogg and Kim Jolly also won one a piece.
This meet saw the club debut their new transponder system, which they were able to purchase alot sooner through the substantial grant from GDC.
Techhead Jason from No Bull Computers has kindly donated his time and knowledge to the club to get the system underway. Once a few club officials are trained up, this will become a fantastic new aged electronic way of lap scoring, time keeping and point counting all rolled into one.
The club is very excited to have this technology in permanent place.
Many thanks to the many volunteers that make up our club.
Catch ya on Clay @ Carnarvon Speedway next time on the 4th of April.
