Points Meeting 17th May 2008
The Points Meeting held last Saturday night at the Carnarvon Speedway once again displayed
some awesome and fast racing, although only a small crowd the level of racing was defiantly a pleaser.
The Modified division saw Travis Jackson four straight wins with Kim Jolly on his tail in second and new driver Dylan Mogg in third.
Travis and Kim last weekend made the treck up to Karratha to represent Carnarvon in a one night money meet
and the orange rotary RX7 proved t strong for the competitors up there with Travis the overall winner .
The sprintcar division had only two racing although this did not dampen the competition with Jim Andreoli winning three
out of four heats leaving Stephen Lyall one heat win.
Although he didn't race Saturday night local legend Burke Holla has been busy with his sprintcar after winning
second place in the WA State Title in Geraldton a few weeks ago labelling him as WA#2. Well done Burke.
The Street Stock division saw some very tactful and cautious driving Saturday night. Paula Lyall and Wade Mason both having two wins,
Glen Harper having a win and a second place, Kane Munro crossed the line of
his second heat first and Tara Mason improving placing two seconds and two thirds without a touch of the wall as did Gerard Clarke.
New driver Kane Moreton showed true talent holding a perfect line for a first time driver he did not get lapped or spin
once, he is one to keep your eye on into next season. Unlucky Tom Parry and Lance Root both had engine troubles throughout the night.
We wish the boy's Kyne Hill, Daniel Pidala, Gerard Clarke, Kane Munro, Glenn Harper, Wade Mason and Clinton John heading up to Broome
the best of luck for the 2008 Street Stock State Title.
The Junior division saw Damon three out of four heat wins brother Trent Lyall one heat win. Rohna fear was also out on the track
in the hot pink Corolla ever improving.
Extra time saw a Butchers Picnic run at the end of the night (all divisions race together). With Trent Lyall solo off Pole for the Juniors
and the girls Paula and Tara off front row for the stockies, on lap two of the butchers saw the high light of the night when Paula and Trent
came together in a spin whislt Paula was trying pass on the inside of son Trent. Travis Jackson crossed the line in first place with Kim Jolly second
and Kane Munro third.
Thanks to all of the volunteers and track curators for another great night of speedway.
