FUNDING APPROVED
Applying for a few grants on behalf of the Carnarvon Speedway Club over the past few months have kept our Grants Officer, Paula Lyall busy.  Thankfully that work has paid off and we have been successful in receiving funds from the following organisations totalling $10,610.00.  This is a great start to the season and we would like to take this opportunity of thanking the these departments for their assistance.

HEALTHWAY - $5,000
This sponsorship provides Healthway and the Heart Foundation with the opportunity to promote the Smarter than Smoking and Smoke Free WA messages during the 2008 Carnarvon Speedway race season.

SHIRE OF CARNARVON - $1,100.00
This will assist our club to promote and host the 2008 WASCF Junior State Title to be held on the 25th and 26th April.

DEPARTMENT OF SPORT & REC - $3,190.00
This sponsorship will cover a variety of events and enable us to assist WASCF officials to attend training courses to be held in Carnarvon.  It will in turn also assist our club officials to attend training courses and the WASCF AGM in Perth in June, 2008.

DEPARTMENT FOR COMMUNITIES - $1,320.00
RVSG - Regional Volunteering Small Grants.  We have been approved funding for our club to organise and fund travel expenses for two state officials to attend the WA Junior State Title.
The Carnarvon Speedway club is all set to start their new race season off on the 2nd February, 2008.  This double points meeting for the drivers will be held in conjunction with the WASCF mid year State Body Meeting.  This will give the North West clubs the opportunity to attend this meeting and also be involved in the Chief Steward and Scrutineering training courses to be held on Sunday the 3rd.

The season is proudly sponsored by Healthway promoting the Heart Foundation's Smoke Free WA and Smarter than Smoking message and once again our club are pleased to be associated with this organisation.

This sponsorship is conditional on naming rights of our mjaor events plus promoting the WASCF Junior State as a TOTALLY smoke free race meeting.  We would ask that all members, officials, competitors and spectators to respect this policy and abide by the following conditions throughout the season.  There will be no smoking in the undercover areas, in and around the canteen, the pits and certain areas appropriately displayed with SMOKEFREE signage.  This will allow families and individuals to enjoy watching the speedway in a smoke free and healthy environment.

Remember, if you would like to be a part of the Carnarvon Speedway Club either as an official, volunteer, driver or become a member then please don't hesitate to contact any of our executive committee.
