Carnarvonites weren’t disappointed on the weekend when they got their backside trackside for the V8 Super Sedans and witnessed some hard core entertainment. With the deep rumble noise of the V8’s and the cloud of red dust that hovered over the track the scene was set for a great night of speedway action.

Gary "Dusty" Higgs took on the young boys on Saturday night and convincingly won the Smoke Free WA V8 Super Sedan Classic, proudly sponsored by HORIZON POWER held by the Carnarvon Speedway Club.

The night started out with a field of nine drivers, all looking to take out the checkered flag, unfortunately a few casualties along the way saw local boy Blake Jackson out with car troubles after only a few hot laps and fellow drivers Rick Musarra and Dustin Higgs out after the first few heats.

Higgs started pole for the feature and that's where he stayed despite the tireless efforts of Murray Iwanow in the number 24 car continuously trying to overtake. Troy Brook and Darren Larson dropped off the pace slightly half way through the feature with Terry Green having to pull out of the feature. Higgs, Iwanow, Shore, and Brook were able to battle it out for a podium finish.

The official placings for the WA V8 Super Sedan Classic was first Garry Higgs, second Murray Iwanow, third Dean Shore, fourth Troy Brook and Terry Green taking out fifth position.

Travis Jackson one four out of four heats in his hotted up Mazda with Dylan Mogg making his debut in Modifieds in car number 29.

Allan Harper came away with a win in heat two and looks ready to take on 50 + competitors for the Junior State Title. Trent Lyall gave his older brother Damon a run for his money in heat one and Rhonda Fears car looks sizzling on the track with her black and hot pink paint work.

Daniel Pidala excelled and won all four heats and was no match for his fellow drivers. Leo brooks kissed the wall a few times which robbed him of a first place in heat four. Scott Mills had his first run in Street Stocks and will no doubt make his way up the rankings with more experience.

Well traveled, Andrew Pedlar from Exmouth sadly had an ordinary night hitting the wall and spinning out several times, despite his huge (good looking in Green) fan club that come to support him at every meet. No doubt Pedlar will be back next meet keen for a win.

The night was a huge success and we would like to thank all the visiting drivers, their pit crew and families for traveling the distance and putting on a great show. Also a massive thanks to all the volunteers of the Carnarvon Speedway Club, your tireless efforts made the night what it was..... a SUPER night!
