Carnarvon Speedway kicked off their 2008 season in fine form on Saturday night with some impressive racing from all drivers and super commentating from a first timer, our very own, Ted Shultz.

With double points on offer all drivers were keen to get out there and accumulate as many points as possible. The night kicked of with Modifides where Kim Jolly looked to be in good form, unfortunately the Jackson brothers were unable to finish due to car problems, but will no doubt, as always, be back next race meet bigger and better.

Wade Mason had a spectacular night in Street Stocks and was hard to beat winning three out of four heats with strong competition from Leo Brooks and Daniel Pidala.

It was great to see our visiting Sprintcar drivers, Andrew Pedlar and Troy Wright, from Exmouth who seemed to have bought a huge fan base with them. Jim Andreoli was on fire and won three of his heats with Burke Holla and Troy Wright battling it out for minor positions. Jim Andreoli was lucky to avoid a head on collision when he spun out on a corner.

Damon Lyall was just too strong on Saturday night for his fellow competitors winning all four heats. A huge congratulation must go out to Damon for placing third in the Junior National Title. The event was held in Albany on the 22nd January and had over 90 drivers competing. This was a massive effort by Damon and the Carnarvon Speedway Club would like to congratulate you on 3rd placing. Well Done!!

The next Speedway meet is on the 23rd February with the Street Stock Ashes Series which will be an action packed night, so we will see you on clay at the Carnarvon Speedway.
