SPEEDWAY BACK ON TRACK by Lisa Ladhams

Carnarvon Speedway was back on track last Saturday night for the start of the 2009 Season.
Double points were up for grabs in which all drivers were keen to get on the board.
A good turn out of spectators enjoyed perfect weather conditions to see 3 local Super Sedans on the track first.
Veteran Peter Lyall is now joined by the Jackson brothers in the Super ranks.
Travis recently purchased ex State Champion, Marc Giancola's Chev after competing quiet successfully for many years in the Modified division.
And Blake, building and racing a Rotary powered Mazda, entered the Supers field last season.
All three travel regularly around WA competing in the Super Sedan Summer Series, which a round is being held in Geraldton this Saturday.
Carnarvon Speedway will be proudly hosting their WASCF State Title on May 1 & 2.
Kane Munro in the Street Stocks had a ripper of a night in his new Falcon, taking out three wins.
Current WA#1, Daniel Pidala had an average night by his standards.
Rookie Robert "HOOVER" Lathwell did a great job holding his line on his debut and went home with a straight car.
Although there was a good number of Stockies out there last weekend, we can expect this field to swell up to 13 in the up coming meetings.
Hot laps was the talk of the track and had a few little surprises with some edge of your seat racing.
In the Juniors saw brothers Damon and Trent Lyall fighting it out on the track, with Damon dominating, but Trent taking home bragging rights to one race.
The boys recently returned from the State Title in Mt Barker on the Australia Day long weekend.
Both raced very well, with eldest brother Damon finishing a creditable 10th after starting 20th in the A main final.
We believe that our Junior field will grow to 5 regular competitors in the near future.
Unfortunately there was no Sprint Cars for the first meet, but rest assured they'll be back, and badder than before.
The last race of the night saw some great moves in the "Butchers Picnic."
This being a race where the field ranges from the capable Junior all the way up to the Super Sedans and other divisions in between. All cars being handy capped accordingly.
Blake Jackson took out the 10 lap feature with Streeties, Glenn Harper and Kane Munro second and third and Junior Damon Lyall 4th in the Datsun Sunny.
Next race meet is 21st February, so get your back side track side for some great action.
